More than anything in my heart,
I would love to bless you.

I want to knock your socks off with wonderful little surprises.
To baffle you speechless with great big surprises.

To make you laugh harder than you have in years.
To cause you to smile so big that your face hurts.

so that can lay your head down at night,
Without worrying about the bills, the family, the future.

forgotten ones and the forfeited ones,

These were the words God kept wooing me with quietly in my spirit.
Sometimes they were the words God hollered at me
over the clang of my world.
But they were always constant. 

I loved God.
I prayed. 
I attended church.
I tried to be kind to everyone I met.
I read my bible.
I worked really hard at obeying His commands.

I did everything I was suppose to do.
I went through all the motions.
I was a “good person”.

But when I sat alone with myself.
I knew something was not as it should be, and I was not right.
I was far from satisfied with my relationship with God.


   I believed God loved me.
I believed He sent Jesus to die for me.
 
I believed He wanted to bless me.

But somehow my world seemed to fall apart more and more And somewhere inside, I knew the problem was not with Him!

               Not only was my life not looking like God said it should look.
                             But I wasn’t looking like God said I should look.

 

On top of not experiencing blessings from heaven,
I was failing to keep my personal life remotely functional.
I was jumping through hoops to keep our head above water in the economic rat race.
I had emptied myself emotionally failing to be that solid rock for my family, 
as they still seemed to float aimlessly along.

I became queen at gluing on the brave face.
Certainly I couldn’t let them see me like this.
 

Who would hold them together if I couldn’t?

 

Secretly I was Condemning Myself!

 Of all the other things that I couldn’t do well,
you would think I would be AT LEAST be able to show the love of the Lord to SOMEONE! 

I deeply wanted to discern how to help 
and know how to love people.



  Jesus gave the Great Commission.
"To go into all the world and make disciples of all men."
He boldly said that the world would know us by our love for one another.
 
 

     My ugly truth was, I was not, and they did not.
I was not making disciples, and I doubted the world knew Him through my love.

I could have handled any other regret in my life but this!

      How could I disappoint my Lord?

 
How could I let the confused world that He loved, whither away
without a second glance?
 
I tried, like I know so many of you are trying.

 I tried with everything inside of me.

I taught Sunday school.
I led bible studies. 
I donated to charities.
I worked with the youth.
I worked in the food bank.
I volunteered until I was blue in the face.

I reassured myself that certainly something I was doing
must have been making a difference.
Still something was missing.
I knew it, deep down.

 

The start to the answer was written in the bible laying open before me one morning 

The answer was quietly waiting to be Discovered!

   “They will know me by your love for one another”

 

Love? What Love?
Was that the problem?
Was I void of Love?

Sure there were moments of compassion and sympathy,  even pity.
Hey, I’m not an iceberg!
 Yes, there were snippets of genuine love; 
however selective and discriminate they may have been.

But were they lasting and powerful enough to make a world
stand up and take notice?
I think not. 

As much as I tried to conjure it up, the obvious around me
confirmed I was not succeeding.
Deep down, I knew that this was the key to why my walk and
testimony was mediocre.

If only I could find the keys to this     iron-clad door inside me,  Something would have to be different!

If I could just straighten myself up, show God that I was sincere, 
that tap from heaven would flow.

My heart would be softer.
My love would be evident.
My world would fall into place.
I would fall into my place.
I would have a PURE HEART and be free and ready to grow.

My prayers would go past the ceiling and God’s best certainly
would happen for me!

 

Maybe then, I would be positioned to be blessed by God   

All of us are called and designed for it.

 

We are all here to be that light and that salt.
Wouldn’t you love to be so full of what God has, that it oozes out of you?
Wouldn't you love to be able to discern how to help and what to do for people, supernaturally?

It can!

Don’t you want to permeate that special something that captivates people?
Emanate "the stuff” that changes “things”.

OF COURSE YOU DO!

Even if you never realized it  consciously or spoke the words outloud                The bottom line is....                We all want to be                 USED BY GOD!

  The keys in this book were dropped in my heart one ordinary night
during an ordinary summer a few years ago.

I was doing nothing fabulous.

I had been frustrated by the new revelations I was learning about myself and God
I think God must have been frustrated with my whining and belly-aching.
